Is One Clueless Mum the right place for you?
If you’re here looking for structured advice from a ‘Stepford housewife’ style experienced mum – who cooks her family organic meals from scratch while wearing an apron with an image of Mary Poppins on the front – you’re in the wrong place.
If however, you’re looking for a regular mum blog, sharing honest real-life struggles. Who is pretty clueless to this game called Motherhood but doing a pretty good job at winging it, you’re in the right place. So, stay!
Here, you will find a variety of posts. From mum guilt, relationships & health topics like fertility & Smear Tests, to book & product reviews, homemade craft ideas & tips on things like Potty Training.
If that’s not enough, we also offer some interesting facts about redheads – because guess what – I’m a redhead.
A bit about me…
So, not only am I a redhead, but I’m also the mum of a toddler (also a redhead) and a teenager (another redhead), who is not biologically ours but 100% ours regardless. Yes, my partner struck gold with all of us wonderfully fiery redheads.
I spend my days trying in vain to look after this family as best I can. Cooking (if that’s what you can call it?), cleaning and drinking copious amounts of Coffee. I’m as far from Domestic Goddess as you can get and occasionally extremely hormonal – hence my nickname amongst, well, everyone being The Dragon.
I’m also a partner in a small business that allows me to work part-time from home. And now, I’m a novice blogger.
My partner (Mr O) & I have been together for just over 13 years now. I say ‘partner’ through gritted teeth. Yes, I’m still awaiting THE proposal. He’s waiting for the perfect time and I’m waiting for pigs to fly (not that I’m bitter or anything).
We also share our home with a very strange dog, who acts more like a cat than a dog and a cat who pretty much rules the roost. We’re pretty sure the cat used some sort of Jedi mind trick on the dog to make him think he’s a cat, but that’s a whole other story.
To us, our family extends beyond the conventional dynamics. We have many, what I call, our waifs and strays (don’t worry, they wouldn’t mind me calling them that). Each and every one has come into our lives at different times and in different ways. Over the last 13 years, we’ve built such great friendships with these people that we see them as family. All of which bring with them their own set of circumstances and unique personalities (some more ‘unique’ than others).
My reason for starting this blog…
Parenthood didn’t come easy for us. During our journey to extending our family, I did a lot of research and read a lot of blogs. All of which have been invaluable in helping me through the hard times of trying to conceive.
Even now through the craziness of motherhood – of which I’m mostly clueless – I turn to blogs for support.
Considering how much I’ve been helped by the blogs of seemingly complete strangers, I wanted to give something back. I wanted to share my own experiences in the hope it helps someone else in the same way.
Well, if nothing else, it may just help you to realise there are people in the world who are more clueless than you (that would be me, by the way).
Word of warning…
I tend to write how I think. And like most mums who are dealing with stubborn, tantrum-throwing toddlers, the odd ‘F’ word tends to slip out, along with a few others.
I apologise in advance for any offence taken but sometimes swearing is the only way to get through the day. That and Coffee.
